Mangalore, March 29, 2014: The Students of the Department of Mass communication and Journalism of St Aloysius College in association with the State Prisons Department organised ‘Vikasana’ a personality development programme for the inmates of the district prison on March 28, Friday.
The prisoners had a great day hearing some speakers highlight the importance of peace in the society, the need to spread love and also to lead a meaningful life.
Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, noted writer and humorist who was the chief guest while stressing the need for peace and harmonious existence in the society, said though the society has many people who can laugh, there are not many who are capable of making others laugh.
She also exhorted the prisoners to develop wisdom and act according to their conscience which will certainly lead them on the right path.
There were waves of laughter among the prisoners as Bhuvaneshwari Hegde even cracked some jokes.
Ramesh PS, Jail Superintendent also spoke on the occasion. Dr Rajaram Shenoy, retired medical officer. Lakshmi Shenoy, Lecturer in Department of Mass Communication and others were present.
A dance programme was also held on the occasion.
