Mangalore, Feb 23, 2014: Panambur Beach at Mangalore was thronged by visitors from various parts of the city on February 22, Saturday evening to be a part of the Beach Fest organised in connection with the Karavali Utsav. The two-day event was earlier inaugurated by A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said all out efforts would be made to promote beach tourism and spoke about the proposal to have a cultural platform at Panambur beach to enable various associations to stage shows on holidays and weekends.
Deploring the condition of the road leading to the Panambur beach, the DC also stated that the administration has made an appeal to the New Mangalore Port Trust to provide a good road. He also said with a view to boost tourism, the Sultan Battery-Tannirbavi suspension bridge works will be completed at the earliest.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Dayanand was also present on the occasion.
Various event including food fest, fun games, sand art contest, Beach volley ball tourney, clay sculpture show etc are lined up as part of the Fest on Sunday. The event will conclude with a orchestra by Geetha Melodies and Avinash Chabbi team.
Beach Prince & Princess
On the first day of Beach Festival the Prince and Princess modeling competition for childrens of 3 to 5 years was held on Saturday evening. The winners are as follows: Prince Winner: Grahith Prabhu, First Runner-up: Manvith; Second Runner-up: Naithik; Princess Winner: Tulsi; First Runner-up: Rhea and Sanjana Rao was the second runner up.
