Mangalore Today News Network

Thiruvananthapuram,  Jul 31 2017 DH News: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday that an all-party meeting would be convened on August 6 to discuss developments following the killing of an RSS karyavahak in Thiruvananthapuram and recurring incidents of violence involving CPM and BJP-RSS activists.

Pinarayi Vijay..He was speaking with reporters after meeting leaders from both political camps here. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, BJP MLA O Rajagopal and RSS prantkaryavahak P Gopalankutty were present at the meeting.

“There is consensus that the violence should stop. To further progress made in this regard, it has also been decided to hold meetings between the two camps at Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur and Kottayam,” the Chief Minister said.

S N Rajesh (34), a bastikaryavahak of the RSS in Kallampally in Thiruvananthapuram, was hacked to death by a gang of armed assailants on Saturday. Police have detained 12 persons and recorded the arrest of seven in connection with the killing. The ruling CPM has denied BJP’s allegations that the arrested men including key accused Manikuttan had CPM links.

Governor P Sathasivam had, on Sunday, summoned the Chief Minister and State Police Chief Loknath Behera to seek an update on action taken to curb incidents of violence. Last week, the capital city witnessed a series of clashes between the two camps – the BJP state committee office was attacked by a group led by a CPM ward councillor; two hours later, the home of Bineesh, son of the CPM state secretary, was attacked.

MURDER POLITICAL, SAYS FIR: Even as the CPM maintained that Rajesh’s murder was triggered by issues involving his family, the FIR registered by police in Sreekaryam said Rajesh’s “help” for BJP activists during the party’s recent clashes with the CPM-affiliated Democratic Youth Federation of India, in Panachikunnu Colony, led to his killing. The FIR has listed 11 men as accused. Two men who were part of the gang which killed Rajesh are absconding.
