BJP has stitched an alliance with smaller parties in the state for the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier in the day, BJP finalised its seat-sharing pact in the southern state. The party will contest 20 seats, whereas 10 seats have been given to Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), 3 to Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), two to Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam (AMMK) and one each to IJK, NJP and two other regional parties.

Polling in Tamil Nadu’s 39 Lok Sabha seats will be held in the first phase on April 19. Notably, the BJP did not win a single seat from Tamil Nadu in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance clinched an overwhelming triumph, securing as many as 38 out of the total 39 seats. The Congress, a partner in the DMK-led coalition, managed to win eight out of the nine seats it contested.
