Journalist shot dead inside his house in Bihar

October 26, 2015: A journalist working with a Hindi daily was shot dead inside his house by some unidentified men in Gaya district. According to reports, some unknown people barged inside the journalist’s house in Paraiya block of Kashta village and shot him from point blank range on Saturday evening. He died on the spot.

"A reporter of Dainik Jagran named Mithilesh Pandey has been shot dead by unidentified person. We have started the investigation. We will try to arrest the culprits as soon as possible," SSP Gaya, Manu Maharaj told the reporters. Also Read: Journalist shot dead in UP, third incident in four months

Pandey’s relatives claimed that the 40-year-old journalist had been receiving threats and that he had approached the police on several occasions regarding the issue.

"Around 2-3 people with their faces covered entered the house and shot Mithilesh while he was sleeping. I was not at home. I was sitting outside but when I heard the sound of the bullet, I rushed to the house to see him lying in a pool of blood. We took him to a hospital nearby but he was dead by then," said victim’s relative Umesh Kumar Pandey.
