Driver of Taxi Hired from Pathankot dead, alert Issued for Missing car

New Delhi, Jan 22, 2016:  The police have issued an alert after the driver of a taxi hired from Pathankot has been found dead. The car is missing.

Three persons reportedly hired the white Alto taxi from Pathankot, where terrorists attacked the high security Air Force base earlier this month.

The body of the driver, identified as Vijay Kumar, was found on Wednesday in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

The Delhi Police has tweeted a warning along with details of the car and tagged the media. The car ’s registration number is HP01D2440, according to the police.

The police have been on alert after an SUV with a blue beacon, belonging to a senior border police officer, was stolen in the early hours of Wednesday from Noida near Delhi.

Weeks after the Pathankot attack, in which the stolen car of a police officer played a role, the police in Delhi and neighbouring states have been trying to trace the car.

The brand new Tata Safari was stolen from the home of Anand Swarup, the Inspector General of the Indo Tibetan Border Police or ITBP.

The car had a Chandigarh registration number CH01GA2915, the police said in their alert.

Police across India are on guard ahead of the January 26 Republic Day celebrations, which will feature French President Francois Hollande as Chief Guest.
