Singh also accused Rahul of turning a blind eye to the alleged harassment of women party workers by senior leaders.

“On the day of Navratra on March 28, I along with a number of other fasting women workers of the party, tried to meet Rahul Gandhi. But we were rudely told that he didn’t care about Navratra and asked us to go home. The same night, he was partying at Shangri La hotel,” she said at a press conference, flashing pictures of the Congress vice president dining at hotel

Singh, who was also Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, made it clear that she was only quitting from her post and not from the membership of the Congress.

All India Mahila Congress President Shobha Oza said she had not received any resignation letter from Singh and sacked her from the post. “This is to inform that Smt Barkha Shukla Singh has been removed from the post of President, Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress with immediate effect,” Oza said in a statement.

Singh’s outburst comes days after former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely and Delhi Youth Congress chief Amit Malik joined the BJP ahead of Sunday’s elections to the municipal corporations in Delhi.
