Bengaluru Hotel receives bomb threat, police evacuate people

Bengaluru, April 22, 2024: A popular hotel in Bengaluru received a bomb threat through a post on Monday. Following the threat, the police officials arrived at the hotel and evacuated all the customers as a necessary precaution. The area has been cordoned off.

According to reports, an anonymous letter was received by the Jalahalli police station claiming that a bomb had been planted in the vicinity of Kadamba Hotel near HMT ground.

Earlier in March, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and two ministers from his cabinet received a bomb threat email days after a blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru.

The explosion will rock the entire city, India Today reported citing the email. The mail was addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy DK Shivakumar, the Home Minister and the Bengaluru Police Commissioner.

One Shahid Khan reportedly sent the mail.

The explosion, the email said, would occur at busy locations such as restaurants, temples, buses or trains.

Khan had also warned the authorities of planting bombs at public events. In addition to this, the email also mentioned that to avoid the blast from taking place, a ransom of 2.5 million dollars (over Rs 20 crore) should be paid.

Rameshwaram Cafe Blast

A low-intensity blast occurred at the Brookfield outlet of the eatery on March 1, leaving customers and hotel staff injured. The case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA on March 3.

Earlier this month, the NIA arrested Mussavir Hussain Shazib, the key accused who allegedly carried out the blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru on March 1, along with co-conspirator Abdul Matheen Taahaa.

“On early morning hours of 12.04.2024, NIA were successful in tracing the absconding accused near Kolkata where they were hiding under false identities. This pursuit, successfully accomplished by NIA was ably supported by energetic coordinated action and co-operation between NIA, Central Intelligence agencies and State Police agencies of West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala police,” the probe agency said.
