13-year-old gets ‘vaccinated’ message in Madhya Pradesh on day of record jabs

Mangalore Today News Network

Bhopal, Jun 29, 2021: On June 21, when India administered over 84 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines in a single day, Madhya Pradesh emerged as the country topper with 16.93 lakh doses that day. Among those beneficiaries was a 13-year-old boy, according to an official message sent to his father.

Vaccine

According to the vaccination policy of India, only adult persons can be administered one of the approved Covid-19 vaccines.

The vaccination figures in Madhya Pradesh have been inconsistent. On June 20, only 692 people in the state were vaccinated and on June 23, this figure was 4,842.

Days after the record claim, several “beneficiaries” in Madhya Pradesh came forward saying they received vaccination certificates without getting inoculated.

One such “beneficiary” was thirteen-year-old Vedant Dangre, who lives in the Housing Board Colony of Tila Jamalpura in Bhopal. His father Rajat Dangre was surprised when he received a message around 7:30 pm on his phone on June 21 that his son was vaccinated with Covishield. India is yet to begin vaccination of children under the age of 18.

The message also has a link to the CoWin app through which the vaccine certificate can be downloaded.

When Rajat downloaded the vaccination certificate, he was shocked to see that a pension document was used for the registration and the app showed Vedanta’s age as 56.

Rajat was now worried that what would happen when the actual time for his son’s vaccination came in due course. He was still shocked and unable to comprehend why he received the message.

Nuzhat Salim from PGBT College Road in Bhopal got a similar message on her phone around 10:56 pm on June 21. Nuzhat is surprised because she has not yet received even a single dose of the vaccine.

Another surprising revelation is that the number on which she received the vaccination message was not even linked to Aadhaar.

While the Opposition, led by the Congress party, raised questions on the “record” vaccination claim, the ministers of the Madhya Pradesh government asked for an investigation into these complaints.

Former Madhya Pradesh minister and Congress MLA Jitu Patwari said his party had already said on June 21 that vaccination data were fudged to meet the target. He said vaccination rigging was now coming to the fore one after another in Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking to India Today, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang said 50 lakh people were vaccinated in a single week in Madhya Pradesh.

“From June 21 till now, about 50 lakh people have been vaccinated in a single week in Madhya Pradesh. More than 2 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far in Madhya Pradesh," Sarang said.

He added, "The ministers are talking about conducting an investigation on the matter of people getting a vaccination message without getting inoculated."
