If it proves a hit M&S will plant its own Tiddly Pommes in Britain for a year-round supply of the freak golf ball-sized fruit
The world’s smallest apple will be in high street stores on Monday after the freak golf ball-sized fruit was found by luck.
The Tiddly Pomme has been snapped up exclusively by Marks & Spencer, which hopes it will encourage children to eat more fruit.
It will cost £1.49 for a pack of six and two of the apples count as one of your five a day.
M&S buyer Shazad Rehman said: “The Tiddly Pomme is perfect for kids.
"Our customers like to try new fruit and we’re sure it will be a real hit.
"Don’t be fooled by its appearance, what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in flavour.”
Grower David Cranwell spotted the 42mm diameter apples by chance as he inspected one of his orchards in New Zealand.
If it proves a hit M&S, which buys the fruit from Empire World Trade Fruit, will plant its own Tiddly Pommes in Britain for a year-round supply.
