The U.S. are not the global leaders on fast-food for nothing with cheap burgers, cupcakes, and donuts available at the push of a vending machine button.

But it seems the land of quick cuisine have missed a trick…mashed potato and gravy straight from the tap.

Machines dispensing potato and gravy in a matter of seconds are apparently all in the rage in 7-Eleven stores across Singapore.

mashed potato 1Dubious: The potato comes out looking just like banana milkshake, although it apparently solidifies more later

When activated, the machines - owned by food company Maggi - mix boiling water with instant mash potato powder.

A YouTube video shows the butter-coloured potato stream out of the machine in a Slurpee-like consistency before a generous shoot of chicken gravy pours out.

Although the mash appears to have a watery consistency, YouTube users claiming to have tried it testify that it solidifies considerably.

One person likened Maggi’s instant potato to KFC’s mash - just better.

mashed potato 2Finishing touch: A generous squirt of chicken gravy and you’re set to tuck in

‘As for the consistency of the mashed potatoes, it LOOKS watery but solidifies quickly into about what you get at KFC -- they taste somewhat better than KFC mash,’ they wrote.

The hot and hearty meal costs just a Singapore dollar (80 U.S. cents) and, when you’ve had enough of the chicken gravy, there is also a BBQ flavoured option.

Representatives from 7-Eleven say there are no plans in the pipeline to bring the machines into U.S. stores.

However, a 7-Eleven spokesman pointed out to website Tecca that each 7-Eleven owner is responsible for ordering their own machines so it is still a possibility.
