This is the moment motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss was reunited with his first-ever race car - 65 years after he first got behind the wheel.
Moss, 82, first drove the vintage BMW 328 in 1947 when his father Aldred, also a racer, loaned it to him for the Harrow Car Club Trial.
He won the race comfortably, marking the start of his successful career.
Good nick: The car is still driven in show races by its current British owner, even taking part in a race in Gloucestershire at the weekend, despite being more than 65 years old
The car was sold in 1948 to a doctor, who then sold it on to a Mr Wilson who took it with him to Australia.
It returned to England in 1984 where it was sold to the current owner, a Mr Wills, who took it to the Prescott Hill Climb Open Classic Car event in Gloucestershire, on Saturday.
Moss was delighted to see his old car but remarked that the colour had changed over the last 60 years - from black to white.
He said: ’I’m very happy to see my old car, but it’s the wrong colour of course, when I had it it was black!’
He was happy, however, that the car was still being driven and raced by Mr Wilson and had not become a museum piece.
The car was used by Moss for the Harrow Car Club Trial in 1947, the North West London Motor Club Trial, The Speed Trial Brighton, The Speed Trial Poole and The Speed Trial Chichester.
Sir Stirling Moss’ career spanned from the late 1940s to the early 60s where he won 212 out of the 529 races that he entered -16 of which were in the Formula One Grand Prix.
During his racing years, Moss drove 84 different makes of car including Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Lotus and Jaguar, as well as BMW.
Sir Stirling Moss, OBE, was born in London and retired in 1962 after a crash left him in a coma for a month.
