Shocking sink hole in Chennai’s Anna Salai swallows vehicles

Chennai, April 9, 2017: In a shocking occurrence, the road at Anna Salai (Mount Road) opposite to Church Park School at Thousand Lights has caved in. A bus and a car had sunk in the road.

Sources said that this might have happened due to metro work being carried out underneath the main road. Boring work at Chennai Metro tunnel is said to be the reason for the occurrence. However, authorities have not confirmed anything in these lines yet. The work of Blue Line Metro route is being carried out underneath the main road. Though such incidences have occurred in other places including in foreign countries, it is a first such incident in Chennai.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited will have to take the responsibility for the occurrence and see to it that such incidents are not repeated.
