With ‘Ram’ Posters, Rahul Begins 2-Day Visit to Amethi. Rahul Gandhi embarked on a two-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi today, the first time since he took over as Congress President. Lucknow and Amethi are covered in Congress posters that show Gandhi triumphant over Modi in the 2019 Assembly Elections, using mythological imagery.

For the first time after donning the mantle of party chief, Gandhi is all set to pay a two-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency Amethi from Monday.

Though party workers are excited by his appointment and have planned a grand reception in Amethi, they are aware that the path for their young leader will not be easy in Uttar Pradesh where the assembly polls turned out to be anything but encouraging.

"The new party president knows the state well, has a personal rapport with party leaders and workers in Uttar Pradesh... we are ready to work hard with him in the field," Congress spokesperson Amar Nath told PTI.

"The Congress will definitely work out ways and means to galvanise the party in Uttar Pradesh in order to make a big impact in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls." - Amar Nath, Congress Spokesperson

In the last assembly elections, the Congress managed to win just seven out of the 403 seats, its lowest ever in the state.

But what came as a bigger shock was its dismal show in Amethi and Raebareli, which had long been nurtured by the Gandhi family. The Modi wave stormed into Amethi and Raebareli, and Congress was routed in eight of the 10 Assembly seats there.

Posters Indicate Rahul’s Victory

Posters have come up in Uttar Pradesh that show Rahul Gandhi triumphant over the BJP and PM Narendra Modi, ahead of his rallies and in preparation for the 2019 polls.

A local named Abhay Shukla, with no connection with the Congress, displayed a poster of Congress’ president Rahul Gandhi as Ram.
