London, July 9: A bangle that doubles as a hip flask is being snatched up by fashionistas and celebrities alike, with Gwyneth Paltrow the latest to model the unique accessory.

A description of the silver chrome Cynthia Rowley bracelet, which costs $225, simply reads: ’Necessity is the mother of invention. . .’

Though the bangle was released in November, Gwyneth Paltrow posted a snap of herself modeling it on Friday on Goop, causing a flurry of readers to hanker after it.

Fashion meets function: On Friday, Gwyneth Paltrow shared a photo of herself wearing a $225 Cynthia Rowley silver chrome Flask Bangle (pictured), with the caption: ’Who doesn’t need a covert flask?’

The stylishly chunky bangle comes with a screw top, which is attached to the bracelet with a tiny chain.

Fans took to Twitter to share their fondness for the accessory. ’No, I don’t have a drinking problem,’ wrote one Twitter user. ’But yes, I want this Cynthia Rowley flask bracelet.’

Another wrote: ’HOLY GENIUS. Bracelet, meet flask. Flask, meet bracelet. Now make a beautiful baby.’

Gwyneth-banglesThe fact that Ms Paltrow owns this particular accessory may come as a surprise to some, since her newest cook book, It’s All Good, is based on an ’elimination diet’.

The restrictive diet she promotes cuts out, among other things, coffee, alcohol, and all processed foods.

But the actress has confessed in previous interviews that she actually enjoys drinking.

She told Chelsea Handler in 2010: ’I like red wine, but I’ll drink white, rosé. . .

’Guinness is my favorite beer, and I love a dirty vodka martini. I’m just a lush, basically. I’ll do whatever.’

And in 2011, the mother-of-two tweeted that she was ’nursing a horrific hangover’ at JFK airport.

’Nothing like starting an overseas flight dehydrated,’ she wrote.

The actress added humorously: ’Where is the dog, I need the hair.’

Though the Flask Bangle may be the most fashionable, it isn’t the first accessory that has been invented to help wearers conceal their cocktails.

In 2010, Papa Bert released the Wine Rack bra, which is fitted with bags within the cups that can be filled with an entire bottle of wine.

The bra costs $28, and is also advertised as a way to ’turn an A cup into double Ds’.

And for men who wish to keep their drinks close to their chest, there is the Flask Tie.

For $24.95 each, these ties can hold up to six ounces of liquid.
