June 05, 2017: One fast-food-lover was willing to go the distance for her favourite fried chicken meal – all 500km of it.

The nearest KFC shop to Jodie Gandolfo is a two-and-a-half-hour drive away.

But a five hour round-trip was nothing to the Colonel’s biggest fan, who decided to "make a weekend" out of the chicken run.

And as soon as her friends heard she was going, they wanted in.

Pals placed their order for buckets including wings, popcorn chicken, spicy chicken and fries.

Setting off from her hometown of Port Hedland in Western Australia, Jodie began her epic road trip armed with thermal bags to keep the food warm.

Jodie felt no embarrassment at picking up her mammoth $300 (£172) order.

"The Karratha KFC is used to us ’Hedlanders’ ordering up big, the manager was great about it," she said.

"I was travelling to Karratha for an appointment and decided to make a weekend out of it.

"Unless you live in a town like Hedland you wouldn’t understand.

"We are deprived of many seemingly simple things - for example, our town shuts down at midnight even on the weekends so we buy 100 pairs of shoes when we visit an actual shoe shop.

"Of course we happily drive the 500km round trip to Karratha just for KFC!"
