Prepared: According to the salesman, the client warned him when placing the order
Most car salesmen would rub their hands with glee if they were told a customer had decided to pay with cash.
However, they probably weren’t expecting the man to pay for his new £5,552 vehicle with massive bags of coins.
Heavy metal: The 20,000 Yuan deposit alone weighed 150kg
In his defence, the resident of Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China, opted to pay for his new 51,800 Yuan car using just coins, warned the salesman, about the unusual method of payment before placing the order.
"He said he’ll pay in petty cash. I thought it was old and small notes, but never expected it to be all in small denomination coins," he said.
The mountain of money was made up of 0.1 Yuan, 0.5 Yuan, and 1 Yuan coins.
He said he obtained the coins through his business, but did not say what it was.
The 20,000 Yuan deposit alone filling four nylon bags that weighed 150kg and eight sales people spent an entire afternoon counting it out, reports Metro.
The customer will pay the remaining price in three days - hopefully with a more conventional payment method.
