Dec 13, 2017: A man has given birth to a healthy baby four years after beginning his transition from female to male.

Man gave

Kaci Sullivan, 30, welcomed baby Pheonix into the world after a C-section on November 11.

Five years ago he gave birth to his son Grayson, five, with his ex-husband, before coming out as transgender.

But after taking a break from his male hormones for health reasons earlier this year, he became pregnant once again with his boyfriend Steven, 27.

The proud dad, from Wisconsin, US, has said that he and Steven will raise the child as gender neutral until they are old enough to decide for themselves.

‘Some people have been perturbed by the idea of me giving birth, but I don’t engage or respond to them,’ Kaci told DailyMailTV.

‘If I see those comments I just get rid of them. They will try and find our safe space and violate it with they opinions but they are jerks. I don’t waste time or energy giving them anything in return.’

He said the pregnancy did not make him feel any less masculine.

‘I don’t see pregnancy as inherently feminine, and because I don’t susbscribe to make-believe gender roles, I wasn’t threatened by the idea of pregnancy.’

Kaci, who runs the TransLiberation Art Coalition, promoting activism in art, was born biologically female but knew he was a boy from childhood.

‘I daydreamed almost constantly about what it would be like to be a boy, puberty was traumatising for me and I cried the first time I had to put on a bra,’ he said.

He met his first husband at 19 and got married in 2010, but suffered from severe depression.

Kaci hoped becoming a mother in 2011 would make him feel more ‘feminine’ but was crushed when it didn’t.

‘Immediately I loved him like I had never loved anything or anyone and I felt such a surge of duty to him,’ he said.

‘I couldn’t be this depressed and be a good parent to him. If I didn’t come out and transition, I knew I would eventually succumb to dysphoria, depression and suicide.

‘So, when the baby was three months old, I told my husband I was transgender.

‘I felt like a ton of bricks had been lifted off my chest when I admitted it to myself.’

Kaci’s marriage ended after he came out and when he was 25 he started taking male hormones and underwent a double mastectomy.

A year later, he met Steven online and in 2016, started trying for a baby.

He documented his pregnancy journey on Facebook and YouTube under the title My Trans Pregnancy as a resource for other transgender parents.

The healthy baby was born weighing 8lbs and 9oz and is now fed with breast milk provided by donors.
