Andhra Pradesh, April 02, 2020: Indian Police is using innovative methods to make people stay inside their homes during the lockdown. From singing to wearing helmets that look like novel coronavirus, the police officials are trying every method to make people understand the intensity of the situation.
But Andhra Pradesh Police took things to the next level. On Wednesday, they brought in Yamraj himself along with Chitragupta to spread the message of staying home. India Today journalist Aashish shared a video with the caption, "Yamaraj has advice for you!! Sudhakar Reddy CI Dhone Rural of Kurnool Dist took the help of drama artist to create #Covid-19 awareness. Artists Balija, Sankar and Drama Sekhar gave an impressive performance. #AndhraPradesh #AndhraFightsCorona #Lockdown21."
The 24-second video shows a man dressed as Yamraj sitting on the bonnet of a police car. He is accompanied by Chitragupta and another man, dressed in black clothes and make-up, portraying death. Or in this case, the novel coronavirus. In the video, Yamraj can be heard saying, "If your karma is bad, come to the roads and if you want to be happy stay inside the house. Chitragupta, who logs people’s sins, is ready to register your sins. He is also advising people to stay inside with their family."Aashish shared another video with the caption, "Deadly !! #AndhraPradesh police using #Yamaraj to create awareness against #Covid-19. #APFightsCorona #cornoravirus #CoronaLockdown #LockdownIndia #Lockdown21."
The video shows a police official and Yamraj catching a man on the streets of their district. While holding him by the collar, Yamraj asks Chitragupta about the sins that have been committed by the man. Chitragupta announces that the guy was "roaming the streets and not listening to authorities." After which, Yamraj comes to a conclusion and says, "he should be fried in oil and thrown to crows and vultures."
Sudhakar Reddy, circle inspector of Dhone rural police station said, "This time, we have taken up a unique concept. We brought artists in the form of Yamraj, Chitragupta and coronavirus. This is to give message that ’if anybody comes out to streets, Yamraj is keeping a watch and he’ll take them away."
Andhra Pradesh has so far reported 87 confirmed cases. The total number of confirmed cases in India has crossed the 1,700 mark.
