Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, Feb 26: Udupi Pejawar Seer Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji pointed out that there were numerous irregularities in the government approvals given for Udupi Power Corporation’s 1,015-MW power plant in Yellur.

The Seer said that he had observed these irregularities while studying the records regarding the approvals given to the Udupi Power Corporation Ltd. The Seer said that establishing a thermal plant at Yellur is illegal, adding that he would speak to the chief minister about it before planning on a course of action.

The chief minister has expressed his willingness to discuss the issues of the Yellur power plant as well as the Mangalore Special Economic Zone with the Seer.

The Swamiji hopes that he would find a good solution to the various problems faced by the agriculture sector in the district.
