Mangaluru, Sep 18,2017: Retired teacher and author B Vanajakshi passed away at a private hospital in Manipal on Sunday. She was 95. As a writer, she had published her articles in various magazines. Vanajakshi had also taken part in the freedom movement in her youth.  She was living in Kukkundur, Karkala. Hailing from Sanur, Karkala, she had served as a Hindi teacher for 35 years in various schools of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

‘Antargata’, a memoir which she authored in her 95th autumn, had gathered acclaim from literary enthusiasts.

The nonagenarian was admitted into hospital a few days ago following serious illness and breathed her last on Sept 17,Sunday evening. She is survived by her daughter Dr U B Rajalakshmi, a senior journalist and the Executive Editor of a Kannada weekly.
