Workshop on fibre wall paintings inaugurated

Mangalore, Feb 16: Nemiraj Shetty, the director of Hasta Gallery Projects, inaugurated a workshop on fibre wall painting at the Mahalasa School of Art on Feb 16, Tuesday, and said that such workshops must be organized regularly to help people make a shift from technical to professional courses.

Mentioning the fact that art teachers are proud of their students who have become great achievers, he opined that the cause for the diminishing value of drawing teachers in schools is the lack of employment opportunities for artists.

Artiste Harish Marne, the chief guest of the event, said that the demand for wall paintings is high in Bangalore and Mysore. Even the people of the coastal regions are developing a taste for wall paintings, he said.

Pundalik Nayak, the president of Mahalasa School of Art, presided over the programme. Speaking about the rising trend of wall paintings, he said that this is the first workshop of its kind.

N S Patthar made the welcome speech and compered the programme. Sayed Asif Ali proposed the vote of thanks.
