Suratkal, Nov 23: Sri Chamundeshwari Daivasthana in Ganeshpura, Suratkal, was burgled on the night of Nov 21, Saturday, and valuables worth Rs 15 lakhs were stolen.

Ratnakar Devadiga, who offers puja at the Daivasthana along with his family, has lodged a complaint at Suratkal Police Station. A team of policemen headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Girish visited the Daivasthana to investigate the case.

The police dogs sniffed out a brass mask belonging to the Daiva and an iron rod, which the thieves had tossed away in the neighborhood.

The burglary took place at 10 p.m., after the priest had gone home. Since the thieves had locked the front door of Devadiga’s house, the family had to use the back door. Nobody in the neighborhood heard anything.
