Unknowns attack man and escape

Mangalore, Nov 17: A man, identified as Ananda Kottary (28) from Punchame, sustained injuries when a group of 3 unidentified assailants attacked him in Punchame, close to Polali, Bantwal, on Nov 17, Tuesday. Currently, Anand is taking treatment in a hospital. 

Anand, the driver of a private bus plying from Mangalore to Udupi, was returning home with his neighbor in the evening after finishing his day’s work. He was stabbed by 3 unknown persons who arrived on bikes and escaped when he collapsed. 

He said: “Three people on bikes attacked me with hatchets and escaped quickly. They kept their bike engines on when they were attacking me.”

He said that he could not identify the assailants because of the darkness. 

A case has been registered at Batwal Police Station.
