Mangalore, June 21: An unknown young man, who was swimming alone at Gujjarakere on the evening of June 21, Monday, died of drowning.

According to eye witnesses, the man, who was aged 25 – 30, got into the lake at 4:00 a.m. and began swimming. Although the local people repeatedly shouted warnings, the man moved toward the deepest region of the lake. At present, the water of the lake is muddy, filthy, and unfit for bathing.

Eye witnesses said that he drowned right in front of their eyes, but they could not do anything because he was in the most dangerous part of the lake.
