Mangaluru, Aug 30, 2018: The urban local bodies of Ullal, Bantwal and Puttur will go to the polls in Dakshina Kannada on August 31.
The government has declared public holiday for all offices and establishments within the jurisdiction of Ullal and Puttur city municipal councils and Bantwal Town Municipal Council on August 31, Friday to enable voting.
The holiday is applicable to all State government offices, schools and colleges and all other government establishments, a release from the Department of Information and Public Relations said.
In all, there are 250 candidates in the fray for 89 wards. There are 1,17,979 eligible voters.
In Ullal, 102 candidates are contesting for 31 seats and in Puttur 77 are in the fray for 31 seats. There are 44,132 and 39,745 voters, respectively, in these urban local bodies.
In all, 71 candidates are contesting for 27 seats in Bantwal which has 34,102 voters.
