Mangalore, Mar 3: The special squad of the police superintendent, under the leadership of SI Prakash K, arrested 2 persons on charges of theft on March 2, Tuesday. Police also confiscated Rs 60,000 from the duo.

 

The arrested are Khader Husain alias Suresh (43) of Kendvoor, Coimbatore, and Abdul Basheer alias Kalla Basheer (34) of Kallapu Kattepuni, Permannur. Khader Husain used to live on a footpath close to the Mangalore Railway Station before his arrest.

 

 

Police noticed that the duo were acting in a very suspicious manner near Kallapu Petrol Pump, Thokkottu, and arrested them.  The accused were taken to the Ullal Police Station, along with the confiscated money, for investigation. During interrogation, the two confessed that they had stolen Rs 1,60,000 from Super Traders, Kotekar.

Abdul Basheer is also wanted for stealing valuables from Jeppinamogaru Vaishnavidevi Temple, Kudtamogeru Vishnumoorthy Temple, Mudipu Kanatthor Temple, and a Masjid in Sullia. Khader has around 30 pending cases against him in Puttur, Bantwal, Mangalore North Police Stations, and has spent 11 years in jail.

The special police squad include Rama Poojary, Sheenappa, Rajendra Prasad, Girish Suvarna, Chandrashekar, Sunil Kumar, David D’Souza, Shiva Naik, Mohammed Iqbal, and others.
