Two ay International Infectious Diseases meet at Manipal on Aug 22, 23

Manipal, August 20, 2017: Manipal McGill Center for Infectious Diseases (MACID), Department of Medicine, KMC Manipal along with McGill Global Health Program, McGill Uiversity, Canada will organize a two-day Infectious Diseases Conference in Manipal on August 22 and 23, 2017.

“The conference targets practicing physicians, diagnosticians, epidemiologists, nurses and scientists working towards prevention, management, control and elimination of infectious diseases,” according to the joint coordinator MACID of Manipal University, Dr Kavitha Saravu.

“Several national and international speakers will share their experiences at the conference and deliberate on topics such as recent advances in diagnosis of various infections, need for essential diagnostics list for India, advances in treatment modalities of infectious diseases to reduce the fatality,” she added.

“MACID focuses on infectious diseases because India has an enormous burden of infectious diseases. Three infectious diseases namely acute diarrheal diseases, lower respiratory tract infections and tuberculosis figure in the top ten causes of deaths in India,” said the McGill University joint coordinator of MACID,Dr Madhukar Pai

“”MACID aims to achieve excellence in infectious diseases research and training. It is therefore imperative to develop capacity to prevent, treat, control and if possible eliminate infectious diseases. It requires competent diagnosticians, clinicians, epidemiologists and researchers to join hands and work towards the common cause. It calls for research to guide public policy,” Dr Kavitha said.
