BJP flays EC move  :  The Election Commission’s direction to seek permission for organising private programmes, including marriage, house warming, religious functions, like Kola and Nema, has drawn flak from the BJP.

He said, “When T N Sheshan was the chief election commissioner, he had brought in reforms in the system by taking necessary measures to conduct free and fair elections. There were no restrictions for the private programmes then. The people in the district are well aware of organising religious programme without any political interference. The district administration should check illegal sand mining and matka cases.”
