Three persons arrested for theft of two-wheelers

Mangaluru: The Central Crime Branch sleuths arrested three persons allegedly involved in five cases of theft of two-wheelers reported between 2016 and 2018.

The police gave the names of the accused as Syed Afrid, 19, Mohammed Safwan, 19, and Mohammed Ghouse, 20, all from Kasba Bengre.

The police said the accused were involved in the theft of a motorcycle in Old Kent Road in 2016. They were also involved in four two-wheeler theft cases reported in Mangaluru, Manipal, and Hassan in 2018. The police have recovered three two-wheelers.

The police said Syed Afrid was wanted in an attempt-to-murder case reported in Mangaluru North police station limits. Mohammed Safwan was an accused in two cases of theft reported in Mangaluru North and Mangaluru South police station limits.

Robbery

The Mangaluru North sub-division Anti-Rowdy Squad and Mangaluru North police arrested three persons allegedly involved in robbing truck and lorry drivers of their mobile phones and cash. The accused are Abdul Amir, 20, of Katipalla 2nd block, Abdul Bilal, 19, from Mulky, and Tanvir, 24, from Katipalla.

The police said the arrested persons had assaulted Shamsuddin, 56, a lorry driver hailing from Vijayapura district, and robbed his mobile phone and cash, near Nandaneshwara temple, in Panambur on January 10. The police said the accused had stolen batteries of a few power generators. The police seized a mobile phone, six batteries, two two-wheelers, and a luggage tempo from the accused.
