Mangalore, 07 March 2010: The Konkani Sangh of St. Aloysius College and Kavitha Trust organised Kavyal Sambram. ‘Tarne valir ankrelli paanaa’, a poetry reciting competition, on Saturday, 6th March 2010 at 1pm in the Eric Mathias Hall, St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. In this competition 22 participants recited their poems. The valedictory function was held at 3pm to which Rev.Fr. Alwyn Sequeira, a Carmelite priest and a renowned Konkani writer was the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Walter Andrade S.J. presided over the function. The members of the Kavitha Trust along with its Director Mr. Melwyn Rodrigues and the president of the Konkani Sangh -Mrs.Sevrine Pinto were present on the dais during the prize distribution ceremony.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Miss Wilma Bantwal, a student of St .Aloysius College grabbed the first prize for the recital of her poetry. Master Clement Fernandes, another student of St. Aloysius College who is well known as "Munna" through his poems secured the second place. Third place went to Master Darel Dsouza from SDM LAW College, Mangalore. At the end of the function there was variety entertainment and cultural programme presented by the members of the Konkani Sangh.

The compeers of the function were Wilma and Kenneth and the cultural programme was anchored by Ashwini and Neveil.
