In his inaugural speech, MLA Yogish Bhat said that the government is making plans to develop schools in every taluk, a project that will be implemented in several phases. However, the betterment committee appointed for the same must really work toward achieving 100 percent results. He gave the example of a school in Bunder. The betterment committee had worked on the development of that school for nearly 3 years with great success.

Besides imparting top-quality education, the administration must made efforts to safeguard the health of the children, to maintain hygienic conditions, and to create awareness among them. Instead of judging the final results, the authorities must judge the monthly performance of the students and help them to improve, he said.

The members of School Development and Monitoring Committees from schools all over the taluk and the members of Citizens’ Amenities Committees participated in this conference.  Kantharaju, the executive officer of Mangalore taluk, and Kodhandarama, the education minister for Mangalore were also present.
