TV journalist attacked by illegal sand extractors ; complaint; counter complaint lodged

Kadaba, June 06, 2019:  A private news channel reporter  who had been to a place called Koriyar in Kodimbala  to report a case of illegal sand extraction was attacked by the illegal sand extractors.  The injured journalist Ganesh Idala (24) has been hospitalised.

The incident reportedly took place on June 4, Monday evening, and a complaint was lodged  the next day. Some of the  accused have been  identified as Ajay from Nekkilady and Ganesh from Kinya.

The journalist along with the channel’s  Omni driver Sharat had been to the place after gathering information that those who were permitted to extract sand in Balpa were also  extracting sand from Kumaradhara.

During the assault the attackers even reportedly snatched the mobile phone, camera and gold chain of Ganesh.
 Meanwhile, two counter complaints have been lodged against the  journalist  by Safia, wife of Andu Kunhi from Nekkilady and Lalitha, wife of Ramesh alleging that six persons posing as journalists have clicked their photos while they were bathing in the river. They have also accused the latter of sexual harassment.

In another complaint, Ganesh of Nekkilady has alleged that  six men claiming to be from a TV channel had snatched  Rs one lakh  from him while he was taking the cash  to make payment towards sand purchased through PWD.
