Surathkal: Man arrested for marrying a minor girl

Mangalore, June 10: The cops of Surathkal station have arrested a person for allegedly abusing a woman and abducting her daughter from Surathkal area. 

After receiving a complaint from the mother of the girl, residing in Preetinagar, Kulai, Surathkal police have arrested Jagadish (23)Kulai and a teen girl from a house in Madya village of Surathkal area. They were living together, after their marriage at Kateel temple recently.

During interrogation, Jagadish revealed that he had accompanied the girl to Dharmasthala and then to Kateel temple, where he had married her. 

The officials from Surathkal police station said to Mangaloretoday that the policemen have obtained the judicial custody of the arrested man, on the charge of marrying a minor. The arrested minor girl wished that, she would continue her life with Jagadish. She has been sent to a counselling centre now.
