Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 23: The state government declared on Friday that 35 colleges in Karnataka will be closed for conducting courses without government approval. Nitte Institute of Catering Studies and Hotel Administration, based in Mangalore, is one of the institutions that have received the government’s show-cause notice.

Arvind Limbavali, the minister for higher education, said that, in spite of being served 2 show-cause notices, none of the 35 colleges in question have responded. These institutions are offering courses in technical education with obtaining the government’s permission, he said.

According to the regulations of the All India Council for Technical Education (AITCE), educational institutions are required to obtain government permission before offering technical education courses in management, engineering and technology, computer applications, pharmacy, architecture and town planning, applied arts and crafts, and hotel management and catering technology.
