Star of the Year Award posthumously conferred on Wilfy Rebimbus

Mangalore, Apr 3: The International Orientation Centre (IOC) and the International Institute for Public Policy (IIPP) have jointly and unanimously selected late Konkani legendary singer Wilfy Rebimbus for the Star of the Year Life Time Achievement Award for the year 2009 - 10. This announcement was made on the 68th birth anniversary of Mr. Wilfy Rebimbus, on April 2. 

 

Founder of IIPP Max Rasquinha will bring this prestigious award personally to India and will present it to Wilfy’s wife, Meena Rebimbus, during a ceremony, which will be held in Mangalore. 

Mr. Rasquinha said that Wilfy has been chosen for this award in recognition of his great achievements and his contributions and service to the Konkani-speaking community. 

The “Star of the Year” award is conferred on individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the community. Last year, this award was conferred on Walter Nandalike; and Wilfy had graced the occasion with his presence. 

The date of the award ceremony will be announced soon by the Mangalore centre of IIPP.
