Mangaluru: University College, Mangaluru, in association with Mangalore University will organise a special lecture on ‘Swaraj and Sarvodaya: A Re-look’ at Ravindra Kala Bhavana, University College, Mangaluru on December 21 at 10.30 am.
Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar and Michigan State University, USA Visiting Professor Dr Rajmohan Gandhi will deliver the lecture.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor (Acting) Prof Ishwara P will preside over the function. Mangalore University Registrar Prof A M Khan, University College Principal Dr Udaya Kumar M A will attend.
Dr Rajmohan Gandhi is the son of Devadas Gandhi, and grandson of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
He is a well known historian and biographer. He was the Rajya Sabha member between 1990 to 1992. He led the Indian delegation to the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva in 1990.
He opposed the rule of emergency in India during 1975-77. He published weekly journal ‘Himmat’, from Bombay from 1964 to 1981. Dr Rajmohan Gandhi is also a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award for his ‘Rajaji: A life, a biography of Chakravarti Rajagopalachari’.
