Mangaluru, April 8, 2018: A full-fledged single window clearance centre has been opened at Mangaluru City Corporation for the convenience of political parties in Mangaluru South Assembly constituency to get approvals required for public meetings and rallies.
Speaking at a meeting of political parties, Mangaluru South Assembly constituency Returning Officer Antony Maria Emmanuel and ARO Shabarinath Rai urged the political parties to cooperate with the district administration in smooth conduct of the election by adhering to the model code of conduct. Political parties should take prior permission for public meetings, use of loudspeaker, and procession. Permission should be sought for burning effigies as well. The applications should be submitted 48 hours in advance.
He said that the permission of the respective police stations should be sought before carrying out any procession while filing nominations.
There is no need for permission for press meetings. However, it is better to inform the officials.
He clarified that there is no need for permission of party workers meeting in party office. However, permission is essential for public meetings.
