Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Apr 7: The controversy revolving around Shri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Mutt has reached a new level with the arrest of 3 people who allegedly created a fake sex tape with the intention of defaming the Swamiji.

The Mangalore police, who arrested the three, have now launched a manhunt for nine others who are allegedly involved in the case. The arrested are Ravi Kodiekara alia Balachandra Prabhakara Kodiekara (26) of Kotiteertha, Shivarama Adi (29) of Ratha Beedi, and Gajanana Samba Upadhyaya (42). Police sources have informed that the suspects recorded the video at a guest house in Kerala. The services of a person who strongly resembled the Swamiji in physical appearance were used.

The Swamiji’s fake sex tapes made headlines last week just when the sex videos of Nithyananda, another Swamiji of Karnataka, were receiving a lot of media attention.

Several organizations and individuals rushed to the Swamiji’s rescue as soon as the defamation attempt was brought to light. Hindu organizations protested that attempts to defame Hindu Swamijis as well as Hinduism are now on the rise.

Shri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji is known for his anti-cow slaughter campaigns. He organized the Vishwa Gou Sammelana, a 9-day world conference and festival on Indian cows back in 2007. The Swamiji is also known for being involved in a controversy regarding the taking over of the Mahabaleshwara Temple in Gokarna, Uttara Kannada. Rumours have flown around regarding the transfer of public property to a private party. Reportedly, there was a rift between the Swamiji as well as the former administrative body.

A group of people are believed to actually gain by overthrowing the Swamiji, a speculation that gains strength from the fact that a number of Gokarna Temple priests had to lose their revenues after the Swamiji entered the scene.
