Sand truck given time to fit GPS equipment

Feb 16, 2018: Vehicles transporting sand in Dakshina Kannada have been given a week’s time from Thursday to fit GPS equipment that will allow the government to monitor their movement.

According to an official release on Wednesday, the Karnataka Miner Mineral Concession Rules, 1994 make it mandatory for sand-transporting vehicles to have GPS equipment.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S., who conducted a Dakshina Kannada Sand Monitoring Committee meeting on February 8, has given a chance for such vehicle owners to comply by the rules. If vehicles are found transporting sand without GPS equipment after the deadline, they will be seized.

Work orders to fit GPS equipment have been issued to Telematcs4u Services Pvt. Ltd. at Bikarnakatte in the city. It can be contacted on 97438 62000/ 79756 60747/ 87221 41689.
