SPICMACAY to hold 27th national convention from May 28

Mangalore, May 28, 2012 : The Society for Promotion of Indian Culture and Music Among Youth (SPICMACAY) will hold its 27th national convention from May 28 to June 3 at the National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NIT-K).

The week-long event will include colorful cultural events with performances by 20 artistes from all over India, 20 classical music shows, folk dance presentations, and much more. Over 1000 delegates from all over India and abroad, including students from 250 cities across India, SAARC countries, Canada, US, Singapore, EU, Norway, Hong Kong, and other countries will take part in this event. The organizers have arranged back-to-back concerts by six eminent musicians throughout the night of June 2.

The event will include workshops on hatha yoga by Vivekananda Kendra, naad yog by Kiran Seth, bharathanatyam by Malavika Sarukkai, Odyssey by Madhavi Mudgal, Kuchupudi by Vasanthalakshmi and Narasimhachari, Koodiyattam by Margi Madhu, Kathakali by Kalamandalam Kuttan, and many others.

Besides, the Warsi Brothers, Guru Thanil Singh and troupe, Rhythm of Manipur, Mambalam Shiva, Chittani Ramachandra Hegde, and Mahmood Farooqui will present folk events.

Another highlight of the event will be screening of classic movies such as La Strada and others.
