Rs 40 lakh earmarked for Tannirbhavi - Sulthan Battery ropeway: Palemar

Mangalore, June 15: Krishna J. Palemar, the minister for ports, environment, and inland water transport, informed reporters on Monday that Rs 40 lakh has been earmarked for the construction of a ropeway from Sulthan Battery to Tannirbavi immediately after the monsoons. He was inaugurating a ferry service in Bengre, belonging to Bengre Mahajan Sabha, an association of Bengre residents. 


The minister also said that funds have also been earmarked for the repair and construction of jetties. A total of Rs 57 crore has been earmarked for the Mangalore Port and Rs 53 lakh has been earmarked for the Malpe Port in Udupi, respectively. 


The minister assured that he would study the problems of the people of Bengre regarding obtaining RTCs for their houses and drinking water supply.
