The aim of the expedition is to give sailing experience to naval cadets of NCC with a view to develop their knowledge on boat navigation using wind energy. It is also to inculcate spirit of adventure with self-confidence, responsibility, team spirit, leadership, discipline and co-operative living during camp and also to impart training on environment awareness on water pollution, health and hygiene. Each Boat will have team of six cadets and one Navy sailor.

Cadets from seven colleges of DK district including 32 boys and 16 girls with two reserves will take part in the expedition. The expedition will be conducted in two rivers - Netharvati and Gurupur as both flow into Arabian Sea in the city. Estuary of these rivers near protected fishing harbour provides an ideal place for sailing by Whaler Boats, Captain Belliappa said.

The expedition will be between Farangipet in the Nethravati River and Kuloor Bridge in Gurupur River along the Tannirbavi Road. The casting off/flag off point will be from camp site - Lobo River View, near Morgan’s Gate on September 1 at 9am.
