Real estate king Dayanand Pai funds new government college building

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 15, 2012: Panemangalur Dayanand Pai, Bangalore’s real estate king, is providing the entire funds required for the construction of the new building of Government First Grade College in Mangalore. This means that project does not require any government grant.

Addressing reporters after inaugurating a job fair on the grounds of the college on May 15, Tuesday, Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the state legislative assembly, said that Rs. 4 crore is required to construct the new building, which will have a total area of 16,000 sq. ft., 2 floors and 24 rooms. The building will be ready in June or July, he added.
He said that the building will be named in honor of the donor who provides over one-third of the grant, but Mr. Pai has donated the entire amount required to construct the building.
Mr. Bhat also said that donors will provide the entire funds required to renovate government colleges all over Karnataka. The Women’s College on Car Street will be renovated next, he added.

Speaking about the ropeway bridge project at Sultan Battery, Mr. Bhat said that it will be handed over to the NIT-K and Girish Bharadwaj, a mechanical engineering expert. The bridge should be built in such a way that it should not inconvenience boats moving beneath it, he added.

He also promised to provide additional information about this project at a future press meet.
