Mangaluru, Oct 14, 2019 : Speaking at the Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti organised by the district administration, the Social Welfare Department, the Kannada and Culture department and the Jilla Valmiki Nayaka Association at the Nethravathi Hall in Mangaluru on October 13, Sunday. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that Valmiki Maharshi, who wrote Ramayana, is a ‘Vishwa Guru’ and not restricted to a caste, religion or sect.
“Valmiki had the notion of ‘Akhanda Bharata’. He wrote Ramayana as a link between North India and South India. Without the knowledge on North India, South India and Sri Lanka, Valmiki would not have written Ramayana. Principles of Maharshi Valmiki were a guiding forces,” he said.
Top scorers belonging to ST community in various exams were felicitated. DK DC Sindhu B Rupesh, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr R Selvamani, Taluk Panchayat President Mohammed Monu, Kannada Sahitya Parishat District President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura were present, amidst a select participation.
