Prasanna Kumar in hospital, says agitation will be intensified

Mangalore, March23: President of Karnataka State Janata Party Prasanna Kumar, who had undertaken a fast unto death agitation demanding the immediate repair of the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH48 between Mangalore and Bangalore, had to be admitted to the local hospital. 

Now in hospital, Kumar declares that he will continue his fast until the district deputy commissioner or the union road transport minister visits him in hospital and gives definite assurance about the repair of the road. He claimed that the party will intensify its agitation if the road is not repaired within one month. The part would resort to Gandhian methods of agitation such as road blockades if the authorities fail to respond favorably. 

Kumar, who has not even consumed water for the last 3 days, shows signs of dehydration. He is now being treated with glucose in the hospital’s intensive care unit. The hospital authorities say that Kumar is fatigued because of fasting, but doesn’t have any serious medical complications.
