Orwin Noronha bags Gold Medal at FICCI

Mangalore, Jun 11: Orwin Noronha of Mannagudda Towers here was awarded with gold medal at FICCI, Delhi by Prithviraj Chavan, minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, recently.

Noronha was given the award for his innovative ‘MozziQuit’ Mosquito Trap. He was one among the 15 gold medalists out of total 394 competitors in the DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme.

The programme partners are department of science & technology, Lockheed Martin Corporation USA, Indo-US Science & Technology Forum, IC2 Institute of Texas, USA and FICCI.

Programme Partners of USA will work on all the 15 awarded innovations and provide global partners to commercialize them in India and to global market in the month of September.

Besides this prestigious award Noronha has won ISA Best Electron Product of the Year 2010 for the same product under health care category at Bangalore. 


MozziQuit is a electric device which attracts female mosquitoes, traps them and kills them instantly within the removable collection container for further disposal of dead mosquitoes thereby eradicating mosquito population in defined area of its use without use of any chemicals and at lowest operating cost of less than 25 paise per day.
