Mangalore, June 21: For the time being, Seemanth Kumar Singh, Mangalore City police commsiioner, will discharge his duty from an office set up at the police guest house, according to a source from SP office.


The formal launching function of temporary office would be taking place on or before June 28. But, sources from the SP office also said that they have not yet finalized an exact date and time for the launching function.


Gopal B Hosur, inspector-general of police (western range), who was holding concurrent charge as the police commissioner, handed over charge to Seemanth, at a simple function at the western range office on May 30. The commissionerate was inaugurated on January 26.


The 40 year old Singh, a1996 batch IPS officer, was operating his duty from the office of Superintendent of police A S Rao, who was undergoing a special training at Hyderbad at that time. But, after the arrival of A S Rao, Singh has performed his duty from the office of additional SP R Ramesh, who is on leave now.


The sources in SP office said that the 100 year old heritage building will be altered to set up proposed headquarter for the city police commissionerate. At present, District Armed Reserve police headquarter is operating from the 100 year old heritage building.
