NMAMIT hosts meet on engineering

Udupi, May 16, 2012: Nilesh J. Vasa, Head of the Department of Engineering Design, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M), on Tuesday said that the field of mechatronics had seen rapid progress in recent years.

He was inaugurating a two-day “International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering” (ICETE-2012) organised by the NMAM Institute of Technology (NMAMIT) at Nitte in Udupi district.

According to a release issued by the NMAMIT here, Prof. Vasa said that optical technology had been incorporated into mechatronics systems at an accelerated rate in recent years. As a result, a great number of mechatronic products with smart optical components had been introduced into market such as optical scanner, laser printer, computer CDs, and so on.

Speaking after releasing conference proceedings, the guest of honour, Apitep Saekow, Dean at Faculty of Science and Technology, Stamford International University, Bangkok, said the conference proceedings were of a high quality. The institute should bring out a research journal of international standards in the coming days.

Principal of NMAM Institute of Technology S.Y. Kulkarni presided over the function, Vice-Principal of NMAMIT and Conference Chair Niranjan N. Chiplunkar welcomed the gathering. .

O. Ojaowo, Professor from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria, was present.
