Ministers severely criticize MRPL

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 20: District-in-charge Minister Krishna Palemar and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel severely criticized Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) on Jan 19, Tuesday for allegedly failing to invite CM of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa for the foundation stone laying ceremony of its expansion project in Mangalore.

During a press meet organized with regard to a function in DK, Palemar accused MRPL of purposely ignoring him. The CM was present during the press meet.

Kateel threatened that he would stage an intense protest if the state allotted land for the second phase of MRPL’s SEZ project. He said that he would inform Petroleum Minister Murali Deora about the various lapses of MRLP. Yeddyurappa, however, did not react to the situation.

The Petroleum Minister for the state Jiten Prasad laid the foundation stone for the MRPL project in Mangalore. He said that the government has plans to modernize refineries in the public sector.
